As you all know, Proton just launched a new model called Suprima. Over the net, there are lots of views on this new model. I myself have my own view and opinion..lets go through what I think of new model of Proton...
1st of all, I didnt expect you all to accept any of my view. This is just a personal opinion and what I think of it. It might be true and it might be wrong..depend on the person itself..
For me, Suprima design is good. Very nice especially its rear design. It looks very promising compared to other car such as Kia Rio, Ford Fiesta and others.
However, on the front part, Proton just exactly the same as Preve design which I think looks a bit odd..
As for me, Proton should hold this model up for a while and get a new refreshing image for this hatch model. Its a bit disappointed when knowing that this hatchback model is using preve image. Even worse, the interior also using exactly the same design as Preve which received lots of bad review on it.
Based on its specs, I already expect that Proton will use CamPro engine. Because of what? Because Proton have no other option on its engine rather than using a CamPro engine. People might ask me whats wrong with the engine. Proton users can feel the engine especially when it revving too much which sometimes make the driver or passenger feel annoyed and the sound is quite loud. However, for this hatchback, consumers still can tolerate on this engine as it still reliable due to low weight ratio. But, for high end car, or more heavy car, the engine is totally not reliable. Even Kia or Hyundai already went for a high performance engine...
Other than that, there are lots of other features or accessories included in this Suprima. Sportrim, 7 inch LCD screen DVD player, GPS, 6 airbag, etc..All of this features end up with a price of RM76k to RM79k++.. Compareed to other car with the same segment, this car is quite cheap. But, what came in my mind, is this car can be sell?? With lots of poor service experienced by proton user, is that price totally worth it?
KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 17, 2013): Proton Holdings Bhd is initially targeting to sell 750 units of its newly launched model, the Proton Suprima S, locally per month.
Its Executive Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil however reckoned that it might exceed the target due to the current demand for hatchback cars from young customers.
“We are also looking at the export market as soon as possible, maybe within this year”.
“We are targeting markets within the Asia Pacific for the time being, and probably we will start off with the Asian region such as Indonesia, Thailand and Australia,” he told reporters after the launch of the car here today.
However, he said the car maker would first ensure that it meet the demand for Proton Suprima S from domestic customers before the cars are exported to the overseas market. - Bernama
Based on the statement took from Bernama, its shows that Proton didnt put a high expectation on its new model in the very beginning of the sales. With 750 unit per month and wanna check or ensure that it meet the domestic demand 1st makes me think that Proton is just wasting their time and effort in competing with its competitors. For me, if Proton redesign a bit the exterior and interior of this Suprima, which makes THEMSELVES feel that this model can be sell in the very beginning of the sales, then only it is worth to 'gamble' its product to the market. If they enter the market with its best model, then only they can monitor or check what is the current buying trend especially on young customers. But if they enter the market with something that THEY THEMSELVES NOT CONFIDENT with it, for me, how to monitor?? Selling something that cant be sell, with that price some more, its a useless effort.. Wasting money, wasting time..
Even worse, Toyota is coming with a new Vios that I think far more sporty, new refreshing exterior design, reliable, and for sure, high after sales value. Even though its a different segment and cant be compare comparatively, but with that value, for me its better choosing a new Vios that will come out this October where the price is from RM73k to RM93k (sportivo)..!!
However, I will try to test drive the Suprima when I have time. Hopefully it is beyond my expectation..Thats all for now..Got to go..Bye!!
Rio and Fiesta are B-segment. Suprima is C-segment. At least get these facts right before posting///
ReplyDeletemaybe you didnt read carefully..my mistake for comparing with other smaller class..if u read carefully, i said that this car are quite good compare to that smaller class car..
ReplyDeletefor engine performance, i didnt said that the engine not good enough for Suprima..I mentioned that for more heavy car and high end car, the engine is not reliable..read carefully please..
can you please elaborate more on the CamPRO engine not being reliable.
Delete"Proton users can feel the engine especially when it revving too much which sometimes make the driver or passenger feel annoyed and the sound is quite loud"
Please be reminded that CPS is different from CFE. In CPS, yes you need to rev more for the power to kick in. as for CFE the max torque can be achieve on 2000-4000 rpm which means you don't need to rev it so much to gain power. have you ever test drive the CFE yet?
by the way, proton do have some quality issue but it never be the engine. Hardly we heard that those CamPRO engine failed. the only quality issue that we heard most of it power window which already been solved for years already, the NVH but now getting better and some rattling noise, cengkerik noise here and there. The point is, it never been the engine so kindly elaborate more on saying the engine is not reliable by giving the fact of it. Else I assume you are just saying some nonsense out of nowhere.
Read carefully and it was stated "same segment". Maybe you should read your own post carefully before telling others to :)

suprimamak ke arah kuasa besar dunia
ReplyDeleteoh..my mistake..change liao..thanks for the correction..haha
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new 'sportivo' coffin with sampan handling and no safety features plus 15 years old tech 4AT junk engine. Toyolta moving backwards. lol.
ReplyDeleteYou comparing CFE to very conservative engine >10 yrs old.
ReplyDeleteAny manufacturer in the world can make their engine reliable and conservative given 10 years or more.
If u think CFE engine is relatively new tech then you are wrong. For Proton, yes, turbocharged engine might be fresh, but not for Euro countries. Beside, it still based on CamPro engine. In fact, CamPro engine has been developed for more than 10 year, and yet, its not as reliable as Toyota's, or anywhere near in terms of efficiency. CFE is just an improvement over the standard CamPro. Hence, I wouldn't consider it as a new tech. For more info, read the following article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campro_engine
Deleteall i can say Proton are expanding their brand. this is one of good design by proton. give them credit. we should be proud of Malaysian car.
ReplyDeleteHow polite you are calling other people stupid just because you don't agree with his points.
ReplyDeletePersonally for me...compare this 'Suprima S', I don't think is worth, compare with the current new KIA Cerato with 2.0 D-CVVT Nu engine...is more worth to get it...same goes with Toyota and Honda...in other countries in term of 'Turbo vs Turbo', I would say...Suprima S vs. Hyundai Veloster Turbo...bad luck for Suprima S...design wise still not as good as Hyundai Veloster...
ReplyDeletewell, at least C-Segment vs C-Segment....proton will never move forward if keep on stick to the sucky CamPro engine... but..I love Proton's handling xD
Suprima S = RM79k, Cerato 2.0 = 118k. Not a fair comparison. Before you mention about tax, protection for national carmakers etc etc, we have to realise that we live in Malaysia, not Australia or UK.
DeleteYeah.. I agree Vios is a bit looker, good resale value and trusted/famous brand as well.. Ultimately, it is Toyota.. But that is all.. Sorry i know our lives is in God's hand but we holding the reason of it.. Famous brand and good resale value or trusted brand is just not enough to compare to my life's safety.. Driven both on the road for test, amazingly "the trusted/famous brand" is too sucks (sorry, but i have do say this) to compare to this "unreliable" Suprima S, from the responds, the comfort, the stability, roominess, driving excitement, and more, except the fuel consumption.. But who cares..? It's not that bad for Suprima S Fuel Consumption.. And if you cannot afford to fuel your car, don't ever buy any and stick to something like LRT MRT Bicycle or walks..
ReplyDeleteFinally by comparing a few cars including Suprima S and Vios, I throw my 80k to Suprima S and after 7 month it more than worth it..
